I went to a live model session at the Swannanoa Valley Fine Art League studio this morning. Our model was a lovely young black girl named Garnel. This is only the second time that I have tried drawing a portrait from life. Usually I use photographs. I think it came out pretty good, although there are a few things that I could have done better. It is charcoal and soft pastel, and measures 12 x 16 on pastel paper. I worked on it about two and a half hours.

Oh My Goodness, Beth! I came to your blog expecting to see the tulips and look what I found! This is awesome! I love the squiggles in her hair! The skin looks so soft - I am totally impressed! Great job!
ReplyDeleteShe looks beautiful. Wonderful job.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rosemary! Actually I surprised myself. :-) This was only my second time attending the live model session. The drawing I did at the first one is not worth posting anywhere. Actually it really belongs in the shredder. So... what are you working on? Still working on the horses?
