Happy New Year 2010!

It is hard to believe that an entire month has passed since I last posted.  Bert and I decided to come to Florida to visit our children and granddaughter for the holidays. I had forgotten how much of a delight a 17 month old can be. Unfortunately I have also spent the last week in bed with respiratory problems.

Prior to getting sick I was pretty busy painting.  Here are several pictures that I have completed while being here.  This is Fergie. She belongs to a friend of ours.  I believe this will end up hanging in his office.
This is Alex.  He is a precious Bolivian boy that my daughter sponsors. This was painted for her as a Christmas present.

The following are portraits of Micah and Kyla Ann.  They were painted as gifts for their grandparents.

Yesterday I finally felt well enough to paint again.  I decided to challenge myself and paint an older person, since I have been painting so many children recently.  This is a Thai woman.  I still need to complete her clothing and jewelry, but I think her face is complete. Wrinkles were definitely a challenge.  I don't see many of those on the young children I have been painting.  All of these portraits have been painted from photographs.  The Thai woman is painted on a 16 x 20 canvas; the others are on 12 x 16 canvases.

  1. I am noticing that the blog template is cropping the larger pictures. You will have to click on the Thai woman to see the complete portrait.
