New portrait in progress

Last week we went down to Florida for a funeral. On the way back we stopped at my brother's in Dothan, Alabama.  He has several Haflingers - a small sized draft horse. They are just beautiful.  He asked me to paint a portrait of one of his horses, so here is my rendition of "Absolute".  It is still incomplete.  Absolute has a really heavy mane,  and I will have to wait for the portrait to dry before I can add the rest of his hair.  Hope my brother likes it.

Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring

Here is my initial pencil sketch of Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring. It took about 3 hours to draw.  I am planning to do it in oils as well.  Now to figure out the best way to transfer the drawing to canvas.
